  • Dr. Ruth E. Lugo is an experienced academic leader and advocates for access, inclusion, and excellence in the educational process. The president has served various institutions in several different roles in higher education administration and nineteen in senior-level policy-making positions: academic affairs, educational administrator, enrollment management, and student services leadership in institutions with enrollments ranging from 2,000 to 30,000 students. In each of these roles, she has focused on leading academics, administration, and accreditation, the core purpose of our service in Higher Education, which has contributed to a reputation as an advocate for academic excellence, access, equity, and shared governance unionized and non-unionized institutions.

  • The accreditation credentials were earned through her service with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education for three decades as Team Chair, Peer Reviewer, Periodic Review Reviewer, Candidacy Consultant, Substantive Change Evaluator, and training of Team Chairs. As Team Chair of twelve accreditation visits, she fulfilled leadership responsibilities that assessed the extent to which each institution fulfilled its academic mission and complied with established standards. The president has worked with the Executives and the Board of Trustees on their effectiveness, institutional assessment, and strategic planning in these processes in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Latin America. In addition, she has been an Evaluator for the Puerto Rico Council on Higher Education and the New York State Department of Education.

  • She has taught courses in Hispanic Languages and Literature, Supervision, Human Resources, Public Speaking and the Art of Persuasion and Managing Change in management with teaching delivery modalities such as face to face, hybrid, synchronous and asynchronous.

  • Dr. Lugo has demonstrated the ability to work well with: Executives, Governing Boards, Faculty, and Administrators in prominent urban, public, private, senior, and community colleges and professional institutions, including effective interaction with diverse external constituencies and a strong record of building partnerships.
